I pretty much didn’t take any good pics in Barcelona. Maybe a few. It’s a great party city though, and it’s also a great tourist city. It’s just a great city, I’d love to live there one day. Visit Barça if you ever get a chance.
Onto Siliana – I thought we were going to Tunis for the whole time my friend kind of pulled one of those “SURPRISE MOTHERF*CKA” moments and flipped the script on a brethren. But I rolled with it cause we were in his country and all, man had to see his family right? Both of the 2 posts below were taken on the road to Siliana, a small town in central Tunisia.
Siliana is what I call the simple life. Because it is quite simple. It’s the escape to the country from the big city. It’s the place where everyone knows each other, and you can’t do certain things, or be seen with certain people because word spreads around the town. It’s the place where you buy bread from the same guy every morning for years and he knows your whole family. I had never really been anywhere like that so removed from the city life. It was so cheap for like 30 cents I could get a sandwich that filled half my belly.
I grew a little Nomad Beard channeling energy from my boy Andrew aka the Football Nomad.
My friend took me through the centre of Siliana and I was sitting in the back of a truck, and it was hot, sweaty, and uncomfortable but that all added to the flavor.
Although I didn’t get a picture. One thing I loved about Siliana and Tunisia as a whole is at night you can see every single star. And the moon actually lights up the sky. It’s something us who live in the city never really get to see that often…Cool.
When you see him ask him why he’s holding that plastic bag?
There isn’t a nightlife here but I wasn’t expecting one really. Chill at a cafe, smoke some shisha, drink some tea, and pretty much converse with fellow individuals. After that go home, get something to eat, meet back up later and talk shit ’til early hours in the morning. Thank God the World Cup was playing it gave us a new match to watch every day. That was the blessing of June I got to watch a World Cup match in 3 different countries.
I met a few friends out there through my other friend. Some of them had surprisingly good English, others I needed my friend to translate. But we were all on the same wavelength and had a good time.
I really loved Siliana. I went less as a tourist and more as an extended member of my friends family. And they treated me as one too which was great. I saw things that tourists wouldn’t be able to see and met plenty of people in the town. To be honest I think if I was dropped there today, I’d know enough people to live quite well out there.
And I leave you with… Nizar…this is not the last you’ll see of him.
