I make a little bit of spare change online, been doing it for awhile now. Nothing that’ll have me in a Benzo on Lorenzo’s, but it keeps me fed and lets me do a few things that I want to do. To be honest, my online income is what has been keeping me afloat since I relocated to one of the most expensive cities in the world. Thank God for the hustle…

Anyways, it’s not a secret. If you go back into the archives of this blog you’ll see that every single hustle I’ve ever done I wrote about it, and documented it for y’all. I even wrote a book which is pretty much a step-by-step guide to earning a little bit of money online here or there. But it’s even simpler than that. It’s about work rate. You must work hard everyday if you want something bad enough.

I didn’t just get up one day and said I want to make money online. From when I started my first actual WordPress blog it took me about 2 years before I actually saw some money rolling in – and from there it hasn’t stopped. I sat down for hours a day trying things out, collaborating, experimenting, talking to people. Would you believe in the process I made friends and enemies, I even got ripped off $200 bucks by a 15 year old kid. I was absolutely livid but that’s another story. But I kept my head down and stayed at work in the lab and didn’t let minor setbacks discourage me.

I wrote this post to encourage people who have ideas to act on them. If you don’t act on them you’ll never know, and you’ll be one of those people who could’ve, would’ve, but never did. All I’m saying is making money online is not a phenomenon.  No one is going to tell you exactly what they do, and they sure as hell ain’t going to do it for you. You have to be original, persistent, spend a little money here and there, and most importantly – DON’T BE AFRAID TO FAIL.

Installing WordPress (text instructions):

1. Download the most current version of WordPress from WordPress.org
2. Extract and unzip WordPress from the .zip archive.
3. Upload the files within the folder to your sites public_html folder.
4. Create an MySQL database and user.
5. Assign the user full privileges over that database.
6. Either on your desktop (with text editor) or in your cPanel – edit the wp-config-sample.php file – enter your Database, Username, and Password in the correct areas.
7. Rename the wp-config-sample.php simply to wp-config and upload it or save it.
8. Visit http://www.yoursite.com and follow the steps.
9. Smile and make money.

So on with it – How To Add A Favicon To Your WordPress Blog in just a few simple steps. It’s not hard at all just follow these steps and you’ll be good to go.

Step 1 – Find the image you’re looking for (your logo, a pic your like, or whatever).  I’m using a pic I got from @Bookerx3‘s website TGTMoney.com

Step 2 – Once you’ve found your image visit http://tools.dynamicdrive.com/favicon/ – Guess how I found this? I did a Google search for Favicon Maker – I am a f**king genius. Pay me.

Click browse – find the image you want to make your Favicon - and finally click Create Icon.

Download it.

Step 3 – Now you’ve got your Favicon on your computer. Using your FTP software upload the favicon.ico file into your public_html folder. 

Step 4 – Go into your Theme Editor and edit header.php adding this code 

Step 5 - Refresh your browser. Clear your cookies etc.. and it should appear.

I’m sure you’ve heard of the FOREX disaster – you know, the one where some dude thought he was the *poop* and lost $750 in a matter of hours? Yeah, that one. I’ve decided to take a week off which has been this week so far to collect myself and further my learning on the subject.

Before the disaster happened some friends from a forum that I visit referred me to this book: Technical Analysis for Dummies. They said it should teach me all the bookwork and what not when it comes to Technical Analysis. I find myself reading over somethings twice just to make sure it’s drilled into my brain.

Anyways I got it off Amazon for around $17. I’ve had some clients lately and didn’t do as well with them. Damn fiesta and what not – gotta quit that sh*t. Oh well – time to get back on the hustle.

I recently switched Hosting providers and I’m glad I made the move because before I didn’t feel like I had complete control over my sites and now I do. Expression Engine is hot. It’s hot because it’s different. It’s a WordPress alternative. Do I like it more than WordPress? Couldn’t tell ya because I’ve never used it.

If you check out their showcase gallery you’ll notice some real beautiful blogs have been made using their platform. I’m a WordPress head…I use it for everything but I always love checking out alternatives just to see what the competition is offering. 

I read a post somewhere how Expression Engine is easier to work with than WordPress when you get all into the code and what not but I’m far from a professional on that topic so I think I’ll pass on talking about that. 

Expression Engine is packed with great features and has an affiliate program for those trying to advertise something new and different. I haven’t signed up for that yet. Similar to another WordPress alternative, SquareSpace, Expression Engine is not completely free.

They do have a free module but it seems to have a lot less than their other mudles which you can check out on their Pricing Page. I think the mere fact that WordPress is what puts them ahead of the competition. I would never leave WordPress and I know many other bloggers that ar with me on that.

Unfortunately, this isn’t a paid review…So EE people pay me whenever you get the chance.

I like WooThemes and I like icons. So when WooThemes releases an icon set you know I’m all over it. Not only is it a great icon set but it’s a free icon set. Use them wherever you want pretty much, no license needed.

Quality icons are a great way to make your blog stick out from the rest.

You get 79 icons all sized at 256×256 which is perfect, and to top it off the icons come in both GIF and PNG formats. If you’re a member of their theme club you can also get the illustrator file which provides the high-res vector images.

I think WooThemes is probably the best theme club on the net since they come out with so many quality themes on a regular basis. You’re gonna hear a lot from me on this blog about WooThemes just to let you know. Anyways, here’s the goodstuff.

I upgraded to WordPress 2.7.1 and all I have to say is it’s better than my girlfriend. No really, it is. If you are scared to upgrade because you think “it needs time” or something, don’t be. I’m normally like that but this time I decided to try it out. And it was definitely worthwhile.

The features are just amazing. My favorite feature is the quick edit (posts) feature. Say you wanted to change the category on a bunch of your posts (like I did yesterday). Instead of opening all the posts one by one, you click quick edit and it opens up some of the setting of your posts such as your post slug, categories, status, date published and more.

It also very easy to navigate WordPress 2.7.1. It comes with easy drop down menus to the left of the dashboard so no more clicking around (even though if you had WP Admin Bar plugin you wouldn’t have to.) 

2.7.1 also comes with a Tools section and they defintiely come in handy. If you use Firefox or IE WP 2.7.1 also support Googles Gears which will help speed things up by storing certain things locally. You can find more about this here http://gears.google.com/. 

Another tool that I love is the built in auto-upgrade unfortunately I have yet to use it but I’m going to check it out one of these days. I still use the WordPress Automatic Upgrade Plugin, but now that I’ve noticed this. Hopefully, I can scrap the plugin. I love the way that they’re slowly making a more and more complete platform. 

Want to UPGRADE but don’t know how?

There’s an easy way and a hard way. I’m only going to show you the easy way. 

1. Follow this link and download and install this plugin – WordPress Automatic Upgrade

2. Activate the Plugin. You should see a link closer to the top of the page that says “Click Here to Automatically Upgrade WordPress to latest Version”

3. Click there and follow the steps.

4. If you have problems visit here. You may need to make certain folder writable.

Better functionality and usability. And of course more secure. It’s the way to go if you have WordPress. Hardly any complaints from me. What do you think about it so far?

Surfing the net and found this. Pretty cool might I say. If you’re not big on WordPress, looking for something simple to start out with, and would like to shy away from blogspot – then maybe this might be for you. I like what they’re showing us in this video. Looks quite simple to use. If I was just starting out Blogging I’d definitely use it.

Issue – it’s not free. WordPress is free, Blogspot is free, and many other platforms are free. I know, I know, can’t expect to get everything for free. So hopefully you get what you pay for..Anyone else tried SquareSpace? Let me know how it works for you.
