tweetlater Blocking Automatic Direct Messages On Twitter

If you’re in the internet marketing scene and you’re using Twitter, then you’re probably using Tweetlater in some way already. If you’re not using Tweetlater then you probably should be.

Tweetlater is a Twitter tool which you’ll find very helpful. It can follow people back when they follow you, and it can unfollow people who unfollow you, all automatically. It can send your new followers a direct message for you, and you can also schedule tweets for certain times of the day.

Tweetlater recently came out with a new feature – BLOCKING Automatic Direct Messages. It actually does get kind of annoying after awhile receiving these auto messages. I send them out – and so does everyone else, and their Moms.

Anyway, this is how it’s done:

1) Log in to Twitter.

2) Follow @OptMeOut.

3) Wait until the bot follows you back.

4) Send a direct message to @OptMeOut (Say whatever you want)

5) After you’ve sent the message, unfollow @OptMeOut – therefore people won’t know that you opted out. If it doesn’t matter to you, then keep him as an extra follower.

Remember, this may not completely eradicate all your automatic DM since not everyone uses Tweetlater. It will reduce it significantly though.

Addition* – If you visit http://www.socialtoo.com and use their DM blocking option in conjunction with Tweetlater  you probably won’t get any more auto DM’s!
