I can never seem to do a place justice through photography. I feel like it’s something I have to do while I’m rolling by myself because most of the time the people I’m with don’t understand that it takes time to make a masterpiece! But no excuses for failure, I’ll have to do better next time. Here are some pictures from Tunis with a little commentary to go with them.

Before June I hadn’t seen a quality beach for maybe 10 years. Galveston Beach in Texas has dookie brown water. You don’t know what the hell is under you and feel things hitting you all the time. It’s pretty gross to be honest. Last time I was there July 4th ’09 some lady came out the water screaming and her foot was like sliced open…probably stepped on her glass. We then watched a fireworks show and they had seated us too close to the fireworks..so our section was getting rained on by little firework meteorites – that was fun as hell though.

Anyways. I spent lots of time at the beach. I didn’t swim that much though honestly. In Barcelona I spent most of my time at the beach playing beach football….but I got injured so I couldn’t play at all in Tunis. I take periodic dips if you know what I’m saying. Tunis was a nice city although time restraints and bad planning (not on my part) really didn’t allow me to see the city in it’s full glory. What I loved is that the water was visible from like everywhere it seemed. Maybe it’s just cause of where we were I don’t know.

I did get see a lot of the historical sites since his Uncle came through and drove us around. We did watch quite a bit of football in nice little cafes. We got kicked off a train cause we didn’t want to pay 50 cents for a ticket (don’t ask why)…and chilled on the tracks for like an hour – guess the other train didn’t want to come. So with my beat up Vans and ashy legs, we made our own entertainment for awhile.

After a few nights in Tunis (no partying involved) we left the big city for one of the main tourist hotspots in Tunisia – Hammamet. We stayed in Yasmine Beach hotel. Since my friend was Tunisian he was getting some hate from people because they thought he couldn’t afford to be there. They thought he was one of the locals but besides that it was all love. Yasmine Beach is the one of the nicest beaches I can remember – gotta roll back out there one of these days.

We hit up this place called Carthage Land which was pretty cool but everything overpriced for the tourists of course. I didn’t really buy anything but took a picture with the elephants – fake ones unfortunately.
