Pretty much everywhere except America, football (the real football) is the #1 sport. It’s more than a game out here definitely. It’s more like a way of life from die hards to the father & son bonding sessions. Found some tickets online to this F.A. Cup tie for like 10 pounds so “all I had to do was say yes” because these are both Premier League sides. My ticket said Restricted View so I thought I’d be in the nosebleeds or smack dab behind a pillar staring at concrete for 90 minutes….I wasn’t. My Dad has been a Spurs (Tottenham) fan as long as I’ve known him so it was kind of cool to visit White Hart Lane and see what it’s about. If you’re walking down the street you may not even notice this football ground..it’s tucked in right behind some houses and what not. London is such a small place but they make everything work. Naw’m saying?
London transport did us good yesterday and showed up on time everywhere we went. It was like we had our own private chauffeur. Went with my brethren JP. Should see lots of him round these parts. Fellow hustler, footballer, and knows what’s good on the streets.
On that London Underground.
10 pound seats? Really. I could do this every week. The view wasn’t bad at all besides the pillar on the left.
Thousands of fans waiting in anticipation as the ball is on the other side of the pitch. You should hear how quiet it gets in the stadium when the opposition have the ball, everyone is nervous as hell you can hear a needle drop I swear. They kinda look like faceless drones but it’s cool. It’s so different compared to watching it on TV, a little (lot) more personal.
After this it started to piss down rain and we had to march about a mile because they close the streets down after the game. People are selling overpriced burgers from their front yards in this little trailers and everything. Real hustlers. About 50,000 people go to the stadium so if you have a house right there that’s a major opportunity to stack a couple thousand pounds a night. 2 games a week – you see where I’m going with it.
I took some video last night check it out here and here.
A little taste of the Underground on the way home.
