wasted money2 My SpamBox Lost Me Money!!
I have a couple of businesses I run on the side. If you don’t know them already, one of them is for Niche Blog Building and the other is an Article Writing business. Today I’m going to tell you how I managed to lose a potential $1000 by being ignorant.

I have around 7 Gmail accounts and that doesn’t include my server side accounts which forward to my Gmail accounts which sometime forward to another. It’s an intricate network of Gmails and emails pretty much. I also have contact forms on most of my sites which go to the server side email and then forward to my Gmail accounts.

One day I decided to look into my spam box in a few of my emails and I saw at least 5 missed emails from clients asking for blogs an articles. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I wanted to cry because missed money hurts. I mean…that’s like lunch – for a week or 2. Who knows, it could’ve been repeat business? I thought I had everything under control because all my email that goes to my inbox goes to my cell phone, but my SPAM DOESN’T!

It also has to do with the Contact Form Plugin I was using cforms II. Spammers  use your contact form to send you spam! So if you use a contact form make sure you have a captcha or verification question.

What Did I Learn?

  1. Check Your Spam Mail Regularly.
  2. If you use any contact form make sure you have a captcha or verification form.
  3. If you use cforms just add  a new field and choose Visitor Verification (Q & A).
  4. Minimize your business E-Mail addresses.

I’ve definitely been in that position.

I have everything from gmail forwarded so that I can keep Outlook Express running in the background at all times. I forget that gmail likes to shove things into the spam box and have more than once missed out on opportunities.
