IF YOU FAIL TO PLAN..YOU PLAN TO FAIL!!

I don’t know if this is hard to believe. I’m sure it’s really not that hard to believe actually but I’ve never written a proper treatment for a video. I’ve written plans and all that – but never actually one that I could hand over to someone and say, “here read this, and let me know if you want to work with me…” or something along those lines.

Preparation is key to everything you do in life I believe. My Dad always told me “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail..” Which is completely true to me anyways… So I’m now taking it upon myself to write professional looking treatments for all the videos I plan to do in the future.

Pretty much I just searched on Google – Professional Music Video Treatment Templates – etc etc. Downloaded some, looked at a couple that were viewable online..And concocted up my own little creation for Ncane & F.O.X’s TRILLA Freestyle.

I’ve shot the video this past weekend and I can’t say it went completely according to plan – but at least we had a plan! Look out for it!

You can’t physically touch them. Just look at them. Kind of like pictures which I would consider a moment frozen in time. A Year Ago Today I Shot My First Video!

A year ago today I released my first short music video ever. It was with Andre the PurpleBoii now known as F.O.X whose mixtape will be dropping on the 18th called City of Sin with Ncane. I’ll be shooting the videos for that mixtape so it should be quite an experience. Although, this is my first video it’s still one of my favorite. I guess I just got a soft spot for it. What do you think?

I think I’ve grown in the past year and since I’ve stayed consistent I’ve managed to improve! But really I’m nowhere and have a lot more work to put in before I can consider myself good! So it’s back to the hustle..

Clean Your Lenses Before Every Shoot!

Make sure you do it. There’s nothing more heartbreaking than going home and seeing a fat dust spot or some type of dirt on your footage. 5-10 minutes before hand can save xx amount of time in post. A couple weeks ago I must of had a weekend from hell where I shot two videos and had a dirty lens on a lot of the footage. Safe to say my heart was broken but I managed to get rid of most of the mess in post but who wants to do that? Anyways, just thought I’d get that off my mind.

I’m Out Here

I’ve been out and about. Moved into a bigger apartment where I’ll eventually set up a mini studio/workspace. Busy with uni as well as shooting like crazy! More updates and videos coming soon though!!!

First watch that. You have to admit that’s pretty damn amazing. One shot, everything had to be on point all the way through. The sound mixing was impressive as well. It would be cool to make something like this one day. Watching the finished product is always great..especially when they show you the BTS afterwards.

I used to skate through my high school hallways sometime around 5-6 years ago…oh the good ol’ days….

Chaz Ortiz is one sick skater as well.

Here’s a look at how this was achieved and the work they put into it….Wow.

A Hectic Week

Late night editing. That’s the story of my life. Writing this post as a video is rendering while listening to the tune of another music video soon to be shot. Got an awesome Gini Rig that I’ll probably use in that shoot as well. I’m happy though because the song is great and we’re gonna have fun making a sick visual for it. UNI started for a black man (me) this week. My schedule is absolutely ridiculous…but better to be busy than be doing nothing. Redbull (no vodka) ftw.

The rig feels awesome and it is awesome. I’ll be filming with it shortly. Slim to None had to be put on the back burner as life caught up with me. But it’s still in the oven believe that. Anyways I’ll put up a video one of these days of me using the rig.

Expenses Are Secondary If You Have A Vision

I spend a lot of money on different things and I hear a lot from people, and my subconscious occasionally,”Damn, that’s a lot of money.” And most of the time it is. I’ve dived headfirst into an expensive business/hobby and I guess it’s just the way the game is. Besides lenses and camera body’s a lot of camera equipment is possible via DIY and all that. But I don’t have tools or anything! So I just take the less handy route!

But I’ve always been the type to spend if necessary, and I encourage others to do the same. In order for any of us to progress in this life we must have enough resolve to invest in ourselves! If you don’t believe in your ideas enough to invest in yourself then how the hell is anybody else going to invest in you or your business? Maybe you’ll get the odd fool here and there but ultimately it starts with YOU!

Invest in yourself now. Stick to your vision. And reap the rewards later. I’m sure you’ve heard this saying before – You reap what you sow. Sow them seeds nigga. Anyways, enough motivational speaking. I really enjoyed this short film earlier. Isn’t it awesome when a message is conveyed clearly and powerfully, without a word? – Meji.
